Ethiopia – One died in Shambu town of Oromia region in clashes with security forces

Both DW Amharic and VOA Amharic reported today that there has been clashes between protesters and security forces today in Horo Gurugu zone, Oromia region.

According to DW Amharic, Five people were shot by security forces and one died. VOA Amharic reported today evening, the victim was shoe cleaner in Shambu town Horo Gurudu zone, Oromia Region.

Locals speak to VOA Amharic the clashes begin when residents try to block a car with sugar that was being transported to other area. Residents claims the sugar is contraband sugar.




There has been repeated clashes and also protests in Eastern Wolega zone of Oromia Region. There has been other protests in some towns in Oromia region but other protests has been peaceful.

Government officials has not confirmed this reported and also state affiliated media has not reported about this.
