The presidential and executive committee members election of the Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) has been extended by one month after the vote that was made following the objection of representatives of the Amhara and the Oromia regional states against the process.
On the assembly held yesterday, 09 November 2017, the majority of the assembly members voted to postpone the election for a month.
The presidential election that was planned to be held on November 9, 2017 has been a in problem as FIFA wrote a letter to the EFF to extend the election because of the process’s irregularities.
The assembly and voting has been deeply divided among Ethiopian regional states as the suggestion of postponing the election was raised by Amhara and Oromia regional federations where Southern Regional State (SNNP) and the Addis Ababa federations vote for the elections to be held by then.
Candidates for presidential elections includes;
- Dr Ashebir Woldegiorgis from SNNP
- Ato Teka Asfaw from Amhara Region
- Ato Junedin Basha from DireDawa
- Ato Anteneh Feleke from Oromia
- Ambassador Tofiq Abdulahi from Harari
