The long-awaited six-party tripartite talks on the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) kicked off today, Friday 12th December 2015, in Khartoum.
The foreign and irrigation ministers of Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan are partaking in the two-day talks; the meeting was delayed twice.
Sudanese Minister of Water Resources, Irrigation and Electricity, Mutaz Musa told SUNA earlier that the meeting is aimed to give political and technical support for the implementation of the agreement leaders of Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt reached in Khartoum last March.
Musa indicated the six ministers meeting also affirmed the interest of the three countries to continue on spirit of cooperation and determination to make the negotiation successful and guaranteeing their common interests.
