Ethiopia’s Mr Yonas Desta Tsegaye also elected as Chairperson of the Committee
The 10th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) took place in the Country Club and Resort of Windhoek in Namibia from 30 November to 4 December 2015.
Ethiopia has been elected to host the eleventh session of the UNESCO ICH Convention Intergovernmental Committee to be held in Addis-Ababa, Ethiopia, from 28 November to 2 December 2016. Ethiopia’s Yonas Desta has been also elected as the CHAIRPERSON for 2016 UNESCO ICH Convention Intergovernmental Committee that Ethiopia will host.
The 10th session Committee also elects Mr Murat Soğangöz (Turkey) as Rapporteur of the Committee. Turkey, Bulgaria, Saint Lucia, Republic of Korea and Algeria are also elected as Vice-Chairpersons of the Committee.
Ethiopia’s Sidama People New Year festival, Fichee-Chambalala, was also inscribed in UNESCO as world heritage on the 10th UNESCO meeting held in Namibia, and inscribed on December 2, 2015.
