Ethiopian Muslim Affairs Supreme Council (EMASC) disclosed yestarday that the number of Ethiopian pilgrims who died in a stampede at Mina, Saudi Arabia, has reached 53.
Out of the 53 who were killed 10 went to the Haj from Saudi Arabia and the remaining 43 from Ethiopia.
EMASC’s President Hajji Mohammed Aman Jemal stated that a taskforce which consisted of the council members, a health team and the Ethiopian Consulate in Jeddah have established the cause which is stampede.
The taskforce visited 18 hospitals in Saudi Arabia to identify the killed and injured, it was indicated.
the council has called on all mosques across the country to hold prayers for the victims in the coming Friday.
